Bela Janum was born in Kitimat, British Columbia and moved to Valemount, British Columbia when she was 10 years old. Bela graduated from grade 12 and was married one year later. Bela and her husband raised their two girls in Valemount. She has lived in Valemount for over 30 years, surrounded by mountains. She enjoys the the outdoors, hunting and spending quality time with her family and friends.

Simply put, Bela is an upstanding pillar of her community. She was a Vice President of Play School for 3 years and a Girl Guide leader for 7 years. She also ran a successful business for 14 years in Valemount. With a desire to continue her service to her community, she became a paramedic and then upgraded to a Primary Care Paramedic. Bela has been with the British Columbia Ambulance Service for 10 years. When required she also takes over the position of Paramedic Unit Chief for the Valemount Station. She has been a First Aid instructor for Saint John Ambulance as well as volunteering her time to teach First Aid to high school students as well as the teachers of the local schools. Bela feels strongly about lending a hand and helping other to realize their potential.
